With a 1 point lead and 2 games remaining against Chelsea & Man Utd I wasn't exactly confident of holding on to the top spot, even more so when I lost to Chelsea. Went 2-0 down at half time, pulled it back to 2-2 only for Juan Mata to score a winner in the 89th minute. However, City slumped to a defeat away at everton so I still had that one point advantage going into the final game at home to Man Utd.
Sure enough the team pulled through and we managed to lift the title for the 4th consecutive season! But this one was by far the closest.
As far as personal awards go, Sigurdsson won goal of the season for this effort. http://youtu.be/owJ8NmGXxn4
For the first time I've claimed least conceded goals and Szczesny won the Golden Gloves with 23 clean sheets
Ramsey won Players' Young Player's award while Cavani came 2nd to Aguero for the Golden Boot.
FA Cup
After getting beaten by Chelsea just days before I wasn't sure how the FA Cup final would pan out but despite going 1-0 in the 6th minute we pulled it back to 2-1 before half time and it stayed like that. Just our second FA Cup win so far.
Champions League
For the second year in a row it was an Arsenal - Man City CL Final. Aguero who scored 40 league goals this season didn't start, though, which was the only surprise in a very strong lineup. Alex Song scored his only goal this season in the 33rd minute to give us the lead & Gervinho completed the win in the 73rd, a game we dominated and deserved to win. Back to back Champions of Europe!
Overall thats 6 trophies out of 7 this season and a very satisfied Board of directors. Planning some changes to the squad over summer and already have one talent on his way in from Udinese in a deal i finalised before christmas. Federico Manni - A Regen CB who caught my scouts eye, I decided to let him complete the full season before joining me but paid a sizeable £18m upfront with £5m more after 40 Appearances.
I'll publish some more info on other young players I've already bought in & those set to join in the future in my next post.
