So long... Legend

With the close of the transfer window fast approaching I had to make a choice with Robin van Persie. He had 12 months left on his contract and was already on 205k/w at the age of 32; I was reluctant to keep hold of him due to his wages and the fact I don't really play him. His agent would settle for no less than £5m in fees and £270k/w with appearance and goal bonuses even man city wouldn't pay... So on the final day of the window I offered him out and Barcelona made a £7m bid which i accepted. In order for him to move I had to pay him £83k/w for the remainder of his contract which totals ~£3.5m so I didn't profit all that much & I do now have limited options up front should I lose Cavani to injury.

The fans weren't all too pleased with his sale either but they changed their tune when we lifted the UEFA Super Cup for the second year running, beating Sevilla 3-1. I've also offloaded Alex Chamberlain to Liverpool for £7.5m; he wasn't developing as well as I'd expected and he was also demanding insane wages and I got a good price for him.

The Champions League groups have been drawn and we have Ajax Zenit & BATE, a tougher group than usual but certainly winnable.
